Akshar Patel, Architect, promoted to Principal at PMA Architecture

We are excited to announce that Architect Akshar Patel, AIA, MBA, has been promoted to Principal at PMA Architecture in Newport News, Virginia.

Akshar joined PMA in 2017 after his graduation from Philadelphia University, where he earned a Bachelor of Architecture and an MBA in Innovation, equipping him with a unique ability to balance creative vision with strategic direction. With a strong passion for thoughtful, human-centered design, Akshar approaches each project with a focus on innovation, functionality, and aesthetic clarity. His interests extend beyond architecture into graphic and interior design, allowing him to contribute to a cohesive, detail-oriented sensibility across multiple dimensions of the built environment.

Akshar has successfully managed a multitude of projects at PMA, including the award-winning renovations of historic log and wood-framed and modern CMU cabins at four of Virginia’s original State Parks: Douthat, Fairy Stone, Westmoreland, and First Landing. The projects have spanned eight years and represent approximately $ 24 million in public investment in income-producing recreation resources at the heart of Virginia’s tourism portfolio. As an all-encompassing, large-scale project, Akshar’s work has been meticulous and attentive to the client's needs and the project's outcomes. He brings this attention to every project.

Akshar brings a savvy sense of design, coupled with an approachable leadership style, that fosters a positive workplace culture at PMA and beyond. He joins Jeff Stodghill, AIA, and Katie Stodghill, AIA, NCARB, in the leadership of the firm. We look forward to his vision and leadership in shaping the firm's future.
