    COWBOY SYD'S RESTAURANT

    Construction

An urban sidewalk bistro and bar was created to celebrate the place of wine in the art and enjoyment of fine dining. The wine cellar, reinterpreted as a chamber of glass and steel, is the focus of the space. It is constructed of stainless steel channels holding glass panels in the various colors of wine. Lit from the interior, light is cast through the stored bottles. The cellar glows with the intense, rich colors of deep merlot and burgundy. The materials and finishes in the restaurant were selected to extend the feeling of luxury of fine wine; a dark red brick wall in the lounge, a light wood cappuccino bar, gold mesh encased in glass, silver and gold leaf walls, and sensuous textiles. These combinations of sumptuous materials were used in a modern and unadorned language to materially express the subtle and elegant qualities of fine wine.
